A Brief History of Ido-Ekiti Country Club:
In August 2016, Pastor (Dr.) JMO Ekundayo hosted a meeting of the defunct ’84 Social Club with the objective of resuscitating the Club at Ostral Hotel in Central Business District, Alausa, Ikeja. The strategies to bring back all old members and opening the door for interested new members were discussed. The following members were present at the meeting:
1. Pastor JMO Ekundayo
2. Pastor Gabriel Ogunjemilusi
3. Mr. Olatimehin Sunday
4. Mr. Dele Olayemi
5. Dcn Ojo Ogunruku
6. Mr. Toyin Adeyemi
7. Pastor Olu Ilesanmi
8. Prince Kehinde Olayisade
9. Mr. Tope Akinyele
The following interim Officers were appointed to pilot the affairs of the Club pending when elections into various offices would be held:
1. Pastor Gabriel Ogunjemilusi – President
2. Olatimehin Sunday – Treasurer
3. Dele Olayemi – General Secretary
The Club second meeting was held at Xpress Motel (curtesy of Mr. Tope Akinyele) on the eve of 2016 Ajodun Ido – 25/11/2016.
The following far reaching decisions were taken:
a) It was agreed that the Old name (’84 Social Club) be dropped;
b) A new name (Ido Country Club) was adopted among many names;
c) The Club is opened to all working class Ido indigenes irrespective of age or gender to enable them contribute their quota to the development of Ido Ekiti.
